THE TEAM
The corporate governance advisory services team is part of the Corporate Finance Department in London and provides corporate advisory services to UK listed clients, including FTSE 100 corporates, banks, insurance companies and other listed companies. An opportunity has arisen for a paralegal to support the work of this team. The role is full-time (on a fixed-term six month contract). The role involves a range of elements (as set out below) and has a particular focus on corporate advisory matters, including the review of annual reports and accounts and notices of annual general meetings. While not a pre-requisite, experience of working as a paralegal or in a knowledge team is desirable, as is an interest in corporate governance and corporate compliance matters.
THE ROLE
The role will include but not be limited to the following:
Legal and factual research
Drafting correspondence for review
Electronic document management (structuring folders and sub-folders for matter-centric working in the Document Management System, establishing electronic filing standards in accordance with our firm’s best practice)
Hard copy document management
Understanding of legal, market and practice requirements of content of annual report and accounts and notices of annual general meetings and ancillary documents
Checking content of annual report and accounts and notices of annual general meetings and ancillary documents are in compliance with legal, market and practice requirements
Collating comments received from our clients, assisting in carrying amendments through in to documents, and proof reading
Assisting with the marketing of the practice, researching markets, preparing pitch documents, writing reports and attending meetings
Such other tasks as may be required
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Evidence of previous paralegal or other relevant experience, ideally gained within a City Law Firm
An undergraduate degree at 2:1 level or above (preferably Law)
BVC/BPTC or LPC (preferred)
Experience of working in a fast paced professional services environment
Experience or at least a working knowledge of company annual reports and accounts and notices of annual general meetings
Excellent oral and written communication skills
High level of attention to detail
Ability to adapt to changing work environments
Strong client focus and demonstrated commitment to outstanding service delivery
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work either autonomously, co-operatively or with direction
Commitment to continuous improvement in work processes; ability to suggest improvements and new methods where appropriate
