Overview
Spring vacation scheme
Our one and two-week spring vacation schemes are designed to give first and penultimate year law students an insight into commercial law and working in a global legal practice. The schemes week will involve workshops, case studies and the opportunity to work-shadow some of our trainee solicitors.
Selection is based on your application form, results of the critical thinking test and your telephone interview.
Our 2016 first year spring scheme will take place from 4 - 8 April 2016 and our penultimate year spring scheme will take place from 4 – 15 April 2016. Applications for the spring vacation schemes will open on 1 October 2015. Applications close for the first year spring vacation scheme on 12 February and on 15 January for the penultimate year spring vacation scheme.
Summer vacation scheme
Our summer vacation schemes are open to penultimate year law students. Selection is based on your application form, results of the critical thinking test, telephone interview and your performance during the assessment day.
Obtain a place on the scheme and you will gain invaluable insight into life and work inside a global legal practice. Your time will be spent within three different practice areas, gaining a wide range of insights and experience. For example, you will:
- Be involved in real work with real clients, in much the same way as our trainees are. This will involve drafting, attending meetings, conducting legal research and, where possible, attending court.
- Be able to find out about Hogan Lovells broad range of practice areas by attending lunchtime talks and workshops.
- Learn how to run a meeting.
- Have the opportunity to attend a corporate workshop and an advocacy workshop.
- Receive training in presentation skills and undertake a presentation project, working with other vacation students.
- Participate in a variety of social events, meeting trainee solicitors, lawyers and partners.
- Be paid £325 per week.
