Overview

A dual role has arisen at Littleton Chambers, first providing general and administrative assistance to barristers and the clerking team. This might include: taking attendance notes, managing heavy papers, printing and bundling, proofreading, accompanying barristers to court.

Secondly, providing administrative support to the marketing and business development team including: researching and updating the marketing database, providing assistance in preparation for events, eg preparing guest lists, name badges, event packs, etc. This might well suit someone filling between BPTC and commencing pupillage who wants to gain an insight into a career at the bar or someone wishing to pursue a career as a solicitor or anyone with an interest in working in a busy legal environment.

Key skills/requirements

Applicants should (amongst other things):

  • Be keen and able to help out generally in chambers with administrative, paralegal and business development support tasks
  • Be able to type quickly and accurately
  • Be able to proof read to a high standard
  • Have excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Be able to carry (sometimes heavy) papers
  • Be flexible, punctual, calm under pressure, adaptable and 100% reliable
  • Be willing on occasion to work late or come in early to assist on marketing events or to provide telephone cover or support in the clerks’ room.
  • Excellent GCSE and A Level results.

Preference will be given to candidates who have achieved at least 2:1 degree in Law and completed the LPC;

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisations skills;
  • Good attention to detail;
  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel etc.)
  • Legal administration experience would be useful.

Salary: circa £20,000 p.a. depending on experience.
