LPC Law is seeking freelance Advocates to represent local councils, insurance companies, private individuals and the major banks in the County Courts of England & Wales. We attend a large variety of civil hearings including mortgage possessions, bankruptcies, summary judgment applications and small claims trials.
At present we are prioritising applications from candidates based in: Cumbria, Manchester & Lancashire, West Yorkshire, West Midlands, Central and Greater London, however, we will accept applications from candidates throughout England & Wales. Successful candidates can start work immediately.
Working as an Advocate, you could be in court every day, managing your own caseload, formulating submissions and putting them before District Judges in chambers.
You will deal with ushers, solicitors, defendants and witnesses. Typical duties include:
You must have the ability to understand the business needs and commercial realities from both the firm’s and the client's perspectives. You will need to demonstrate independence, self-motivation and excellent time management skills. You will need to be able to think on your feet during pressured situations, whilst always putting your client’s case forward in the strongest terms. You must be able to research the law and apply it to practical situations. You need to have excellent public speaking skills, good attention to detail and an ability to write accurately and professionally. You must be able to get on with people.
Hearings are paid at a fixed rate and travel disbursements are also paid. It is LPC Law’s policy to pay all Advocate invoices within 21 days of receipt. For further information and to submit an application form, please visit our website.
