Dispatches from the frontline of finance, with students asking the questions
The financial world appears to be on the cusp of significant technological disruption. In the short term this will throw up interesting challenges, including reining in the wilder elements of the still unregulated cryptocurrency craze. Looking further ahead, blockchain and artificial intelligence will surely be transformative – and may require whole new legal regimes. The future will be shaped by young lawyers, bankers and techies working together on the frontline.
On the evening of Thursday 30 November we’ll be hearing from some of these individuals, as two of Clifford Chance’s leading finance and technology lawyers present and take questions at the latest Legal Cheek Live.
Partner André Duminy, the head of Clifford Chance's UK Commercial & Technology Group, and senior associate Peter Chapman, who is carving out a reputation as one of the rising star fintech lawyers in London, will consider what financial institutions will look like in the years ahead, and discuss their work assisting clients on everything from initial coin offerings (ICO) to smart contracts and blockchain. They will also talk about their career journeys to date and share their advice with students hoping to practise in these areas.
After the presentation and Q&A there will be drinks and networking with the speakers and a collection of Clifford Chance trainees and members of the firm's graduate recruitment team.
Apply to attend the session – held at Clifford Chance’s Canary Wharf headquarters – below. You’ll be asked to submit a CV and two questions for the panel. Please note that the details of those offered places will be shared with Clifford Chance’s graduate recruitment team.
