London IP Litigation Boutique seeks Junior Associate

Brandsmiths is recruiting for a junior associate to join its exciting and expanding practice.

OUR WORK

We provide strategic advice on the creation, protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights. This includes guiding clients on brand expansion, handling heavyweight, high value and precedent setting litigation, preparing commercial agreements and using our industry knowledge to deliver top results. 

A key part of our work is advising sports clubs, professional athletes and associated entities on the full range of regulatory, commercial and litigation matters. We also handle defamation, media and harassment work for high profile individuals involved in sport, television, fashion and other industries in the public spotlight.

The firm also acts in a wide range of complex commercial litigation including contractual disputes, partnership matters, professional negligence, shareholder actions and insolvency matters.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will work with our highly-rated team on a range of matters. Owing to the nature of our clients the quality of work produced is high level. Applicants therefore need to have top class legal, technical and soft skills. 

The firm's work load has a contentious bias and strong litigation skills, particularly in intellectual property and more generally, commercial litigation matters, is an imperative. Experience of urgent injunctive work and sports law is also highly beneficial. 

As a start-up boutique, Brandsmiths do not employ secretarial staff. Applicants will therefore need strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office. It is imperative that applicants are organised, methodical and self-sufficient in this regard.

OTHER INFORMATION

The role is based in London at our Gough Square office, but it may be necessary to travel nationwide to visit clients and attend Court as required. There may be an element of travel to Manchester but it is not envisaged that this will be generally necessary more than once every six weeks.

We offer a base salary at market rate in line with experience. In addition, there is a generous bonus scheme which rewards introduction of work and shares a proportion of the firm’s profits between staff.
