LPC Law is seeking BPTC & LPC graduates to undertake freelance advocacy work in the County Courts throughout England and Wales.

LPC Law is currently recruiting in all areas of England and Wales with particular priority on candidates currently based in, or willing to relocate to, the following areas:

·       South Eastern Circuit: Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, Greater London

·       Northern Circuit: Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside

·       North Eastern Circuit: South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire; and

·       North Wales including Caernarfon, Conwy, Colwyn, Mold, Rhyl, Wrexham

·       Western Circuit: Hampshire, Dorset.

LPC Law is the UK's largest provider of advocacy services. We act on behalf of financial institutions, companies and individual clients either directly for them or via their solicitors in variety of civil hearings including mortgage repossessions, bankruptcy, summary judgment applications and small claims trials.

Working as an Advocate, you could be in court every day, managing your own caseload. As well as formulating submissions and putting them before Judges in chambers, you will deal with ushers, solicitors, defendants and witnesses for the cases you deal with. Typical duties include:

•                Structuring and preparing relevant submissions of law and fact

•                Liaising with clients and LPC Law to ensure cases are managed effectively at court

•                Keeping up to date with developments in law and procedure

•                Legal research using both paper and electronic sources

•                Arranging and conducting pre-trial conferences with clients, lay and expert witnesses.

•                Negotiating with opponents at court

•                Witness examination, opening and closing speeches

•                Compiling and submitting attendance notes for all hearings

You must have the ability to understand the business needs and commercial realities from both the firm’s and the client's perspectives.

You will need to demonstrate independence, self-motivation and excellent time management skills.  You will need to be able to think on your feet during pressured situations, whilst always putting your client’s case forward in the strongest terms. You must be able to research the law and apply it to practical situations.

You need to have excellent public speaking skills, good attention to detail and an ability to write accurately and professionally. You must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills.

You will invoice LPC Law for the work undertaken; hearings are paid at a fixed rate per hearing. Travel disbursements are also paid.
